| Morgan Shepherd led once for three laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Aaron’s 312. This is the first time that Shepherd has led a lap in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series and the first race he’s led since O’Reilly Raceway Park last July (21 races).
Shepherd has led 11 times for 91 laps in 149 Nationwide Series superspeedway starts.
Shepherd scored a 23rd-place finish, posting a lead lap finish of the first time this season.
UNOFFICIALLY Shepherd is 22nd in the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship standings.
Shepherd becomes the fifth different driver to claim WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors this season, joining Jason Keller, Joe Nemechek, Mike Bliss and Michael McDowell.
